Bonjour, welcome to Les Toiles Blanches stock!
here is a gorgeous mantelpiece cover that dates c1900.
The fabric is a light weight linen fil with off-white tones.
The curtain has a rectangular shape to cover the top of the chimney or shelf with gorgeous inserts of embroideries pulled thread work.
This embroidered textile is beautifully embroidered with a large central floral decor with eyelet and pulled thread work embroideries surrounded by two embroidered eyelet flowers. A stunning work of embroideries hand crafted by very skilled hands!
On the sides and down the textile, the mantelpiece has pieces added with lace entredeux to the main part. The mantelpiece is nicely trimmed with a thin piece of lace.
Please note the unusual large measurements of this antique textile!
The mantelpiece is in a gorgeous timeworn condition with a few tiny breaks in the lace, but nothing serious, great condition nevertheless.
I have freshly laundered and pressed this mantelpiece, it is ready to use!
Lovely hanged in a bath room or in a kitchen. These cloths look also amazing after having been dyed in faded tones.

Textile Care
|
Antique linen is a living material, if you treasure it, it will reward you a hundred times. A lot of antique textiles are so robust and wonderfully easy to wash and maintain. The fibres of these exceptional fabrics were grown without any use of chemical, these textiles are organic. No need to use chemicals to wash antique textiles, a good simple natural soap such as the savon de Marseille is fine for every kind of linen. The textiles can be machine washed on warm. The warmer ithey will be washed, the softer and floppier they will turn. Again, no need to use a softener, a dash of white vinegar or a spoon of baking soda are perfect to maintain these wonderful textiles. Dry them on the line if possible, expose them under sun light to brighten the natural white.
