Bonjour, welcome to Les Toiles Blanches stock!
here is a lovely valance that dates c1900.
The fabric is a good medium weight nubby linen cotton blend with an off-white tone.
The curtain has a good length and is entirely handcrafted with beautiful pulled thread work.
Large opensworks embroidered in the vertical of the cloth and tiny opneworks that trim the bottom side of the valance.
This antique textile comes from the same trousseau with the same embroideries and heavy textured linen fabric than the following items in my listing, gorgeous tablecloth and curtains in a rare unused condition. They must have been made to use as a second trousseau and were never used in the end!
This antique embroidered valance is in a fine condition, freshly laundered and pressed.
The measurements are fine with a good length.
Lovely hanged in a bath room or in a kitchen.
Condition : fine condition, washed and pressed
Ref : SC01558

Textile Care
|
Antique linen is a living material, if you treasure it, it will reward you a hundred times. A lot of antique textiles are so robust and wonderfully easy to wash and maintain. The fibres of these exceptional fabrics were grown without any use of chemical, these textiles are organic. No need to use chemicals to wash antique textiles, a good simple natural soap such as the savon de Marseille is fine for every kind of linen. The textiles can be machine washed on warm. The warmer ithey will be washed, the softer and floppier they will turn. Again, no need to use a softener, a dash of white vinegar or a spoon of baking soda are perfect to maintain these wonderful textiles. Dry them on the line if possible, expose them under sun light to brighten the natural white.
