Bonjour, welcome to les Toiles Blanches stock!
here is a gorgeous antique large shawl that dates end of the 19th century.
The fabric is a wool of medium weight with amazing warm colours.
The shawl is very long, beautifully woven with a stunning decor of paisley, boteh decor in tones of red, orange, brown, green and black.
The classic intricate decor of indiennes is really stunning.
There are very few tiny wear points, but only on the top right part of the shawl, as well as a very small tear in the black center part. But gorgeous condition nevertheless for a textile of that age.
The center part has a beautiful unusual shape!
The shawl is trimmed with two tones fringes, a couple are cut in the bottom of the shawl.
Those long wool textiles were woven in Lyon, the city of silk and textiles in the 19th century. I have found this amazing antique textile in a sale, near Lyon, with great chateau textiles.
It is really in a fine condition, rare for this type of textile that were used to cover a long piano or a long dining table in high French bourgeoisie homes.
A quality museum textile. I can send more pictures on request.
